2011 Update for Thomas Woodson Family Members

Hello. My name is John Stephens.  As the Membership Chairperson for the Thomas Woodson Family Association, it is my responsibility to maintain a record of Association members as well as to track the payment of membership dues.

It is that time of year to ask families to pay their dues. Dues are $25 per year per family. I would like to ask people to change their mindset about giving this amount and not ask "what's in it for me?" Being able to sustain the association can benefit us all. The money is used to send out the newsletter, which helps keep us connected. And for those of us who attend every family reunion, to those of us who can only attend one or two, the relationships founded and memories made last a lifetime. Through the years, there have been discussions around building a scholarship fund. To do that that takes people being willing and able to give. I would like to take this opportunity to make people aware of 2 major goals of the Woodson Association.

  1. To promote and nurture a closer relationship among the descendants of Thomas and Jemima Woodson, and to serve as a platform for the enrichment of the Thomas and Jemima Woodson heritage for future generations of their descendants and for the benefit of the society at large.
  2. To promote, stimulate, develop, enhance and further scientific and educational research and publications pertaining to the history and accomplishments of Thomas Woodson and Jemima Woodson and their ancestors and descendants.

I would like to see the association racing toward these goals. It fills me with pride to be that knowing and promoting our heritage can be beneficial to a larger audience. Not every family can say that. Your help is needed in the endeavor.

I would like to thank those who have been giving and to those will be begin giving again. I look forward to hearing from you. If you have any questions about the membership, please let me know.

Dues can be sent to:

Thomas Woodson Family Association, P.O. Box 10644, Alexandria VA 22310

Thanks.

John Stephens
